This is how I tie the Ronnie Rig. With a Ronnie Rig, you fish a pop-up low to the bottom, which can be very effective for passing carp. My advice is not to pre-bait around a pop-up rig. Feeding carp will become suspicious of the dancing pop-up. Therefore, fish pop-ups as a single hookbait to trigger the curiosity of passing carp.
