As simple as can be, but extra soft so you can already squeeze them shut by hand! This way they stay in place and you can easily crimp them further with pliers.
I use 0.2g as a Shot on the Hook, and I put the 0.4g under a pop-up if I want to fish it on the bottom (highly recommended!). The split shots are matt coated so they don't shine underwater.
