PLEASE NOTE: We only have maggots in winter, from November to March 15. We will have maggots again in November 2026.
Maggots arrive fresh with us on Wednesday, and we ship them to you on the same Wednesday. Orders must be placed by Monday evening at the latest. You will normally receive the maggots on Thursday (for Belgium, this is Friday).
Your entire order will be shipped with the maggot delivery.
Maggots
Maggots are indispensable in our winter fishing. With maggots, you are sure to get more fish feeding and thus more bites. For hook bait, we use a red or pink hook bait with two maggots on top. This can be our WK dumbells, dumbbell foam, or imitation corn.
How many maggots should you feed? We feed about half a liter per rod. For every bite you get, you re-feed 0.5L. Are you getting more and more bites? Then you can feed more. Are you going to France for a week? Then we advise taking 2 to 5L per day. If the carp go wild, you can feed a lot of maggots. Be sure to bring a few bags of casters, and don't forget chopped worms!
How do you best keep the maggots good? Keep the maggots dry and cool and supplied with air. Put the maggots in a bucket with a perforated lid. Drill many 5 mm holes in the middle part of the lid.
If the maggots have gotten wet, you can put a few sheets of paper towels in the bucket and remove them when the moisture has been absorbed by the paper.
If the days are warmer than 10 degrees, the maggots will pupate faster. If you want to keep them good for longer, it is advisable to put a frozen bottle of water with the maggots in the bucket. This will keep them cool.
Note that maggots suffocate without air and will not come back to life after 3 days.
Red maggots
In the Netherlands, check if this is allowed on the water where you are going to fish. In France, this is allowed everywhere.
Casters
Store the casters in the vacuum bag at 5 degrees. This way they will last for weeks. After opening, feed on the same day. After a few days out of the vacuum, casters will float.
Dendrobena Worms
Perhaps the best carp bait there is, provided you cut them into small pieces. Pieces of worm give off a huge amount of attraction and carp simply cannot resist them. This is very effective all year round, but all fish species like worms. Therefore, especially in winter and spring, you can perfectly feed with chopped worms because whitefish are less active in cold water.
I advise cutting the worms with a worm scissor with 3 blades into pieces averaging 1cm. You can mix different types of feed with the chopped worms, such as crushed Boilies, canned corn, hemp, and maggots. Only cut as many worms as you are going to feed directly. Do not cut in advance! The fresher you cut, the better.
The best way to keep worms good is in the bag they are delivered in. Make sure the worms do not freeze, then you can easily keep them good for a few weeks at cool temperatures. Do not leave a bucket of worms open at night! At night, worms crawl up and if the lid is not properly closed, you will lose a large part of your worms at night.
